How to elucidate intestinal neuro-immune interactions with spectral flow cytometry

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is estimated to affect up to 10% of the global population. However – despite its prevalence – there is still a limited understanding of the causes and mechanisms of IBS, as well as no current cure nor proven effective treatment. In this video, Dr. Hind Hussein, postdoctoral researcher at the Translational Research Center in Gastrointestinal Disorders (TARGID) of KU Leuven, explores TARGID’s work to improve our understanding of the way the intestinal nervous and immune systems interact and elucidate how a disruption in this interaction leads to diseases like IBS. Here, Hussein also shares the benefits of spectral flow cytometry over conventional cytometry, highlighting the key role of the ID7000 from Sony in this work.
