Cell Sorting and Genomics Research
Single cell RNA analysis (scRNA) technologies have emerged as powerful tools for in-depth analysis of cellular heterogeneity of different cell types and rare populations. Recent advances in multiomics have enabled the simultaneous analysis of the genome, transcriptome, epigenome, and proteome.
The high sensitivity of scRNA seq often leads to sequencing noise contributed by RNA from debris or due to low or undetectable signals in instances where rare cells are of interest. Therefore, careful processing of cells and sample optimization are critical to ensuring that the results truly reflect the cellular state.
Optimize your genomics workflows with plug-and-play sorting
Sony cell sorters have been used for optimizing samples for scRNA seq in several research areas spanning epigenomics, cancer biology, immune cell profiling, neuroscience, and cell atlas mapping, to synthetic biology and gene editing. Delivering both precision and throughput, the Sony sorter can sort the most challenging cell types to deliver samples that give quality scRNA seq results. Download the Publications List →
In these studies, the Sony sorter was used to:
- Enrich viable cells or intact nuclei and avoid sequencing of extracellular RNA that can increase background noise
- Purify target subsets using extracellular epitope markers to increase target cell abundance for in-depth single cell profiling
Sony sorters offer key benefits that make them a seamless addition to your genomics research workflow:
- Automated setup – Designed for novice users who need a system that is easy to learn, use, and teach.
- Versatile design – Patented optics can detect cells from 0.5–30 micron, resolving viable cells and intact nuclei from debris and supporting analysis of cell subsets stained with 1–12 fluorescence markers.
- Microfluidics sorting chips – Chips in a range of sizes can sort different cell types at high throughput to deliver target populations with purity >98% and yield >80%. Chips can be optionally exchanged in between experiments or users to eliminate carryover of extraneous RNA.
- Precise plate sorting – Supports efficient single cell sorting and indexing for isolation of complex or rare cells in 96- and 384-well PCR plates.
